The name given to the tight trousers worn by some Regency gentlemen, such as the notorious Beau Brummell and his ‘dandy’ followers, as they showed off their leg muscles.
09/02/2024 FOR VISITORS WITH MOBILITY ACCESS NEEDS:
We are very sorry, but our lift in the garden that brings visitors to the ground floor is currently out of order. We’re trying to solve this as swiftly as possible, but it may take a little time. Please call us before setting out if you may need to use it.
Plan your Visit
Please do come and visit us if you can. We love browsing heritage websites here, but there is nothing like seeing real objects for yourself, or taking in the atmosphere of a historic site. The Judge’s Lodging really does need to be seen to be properly experienced – with our ‘hands-on’ policy allowing you to wander the rooms as the Victorians would have done, and period lighting, with all the warm glows, gloomy corners and smells, there is no real substitute for being here. Here, you can find out more information about coming to see us. Just get in touch, if you can’t find the answer to what you are looking for.
If you can’t get to see us and or want to use this site for learning and fun, we really welcome you too — please get in touch if there is anything we can help you with. A big hello to everyone all over the world who is visiting us via this modern means – what would the Victorians think?!
