The name given to the tight trousers worn by some Regency gentlemen, such as the notorious Beau Brummell and his ‘dandy’ followers, as they showed off their leg muscles.
Victorian Dining for you and your guests
If you are looking for that really special place to entertain, the stunning Judge’s Dining Room is available for hire out of opening hours for special occasions. Dine around the large Victorian table in the flickering candle-light.
Pre or post dinner drinks can be served in the comfortable oil-lit Victorian drawing room. There is also a Victorian piano in there, if you have anyone who would like to play tunes for your guests. Roaring fires will greet you in the winter (and the huge Christmas tree, if you choose later in the year).
We will do all we can to decorate the rooms appropriately for your event . The dining room seats a maximum of 27 people, although more could be accommodated if you opted for standing buffet-style dining. If you like, we can light the other period rooms for your guests to explore before they eat. The building is not licensed, but you are welcome to bring your own refreshments – we will happily chill wine for you. We have a list of caterers who we have worked with and are used to preparing and serving lovely food of all types in our building, so please just ask and we will help you to get exactly what you would like.
Cost for exclusive hire of the dining room, including set-up, all tableware, glasses, period lighting, a tour of the house, and drawing room to relax in is £400.
