The name given to the tight trousers worn by some Regency gentlemen, such as the notorious Beau Brummell and his ‘dandy’ followers, as they showed off their leg muscles.
To Make Caraway Brandy
Steep an ounce of caraway-seeds and six ounces of sugar in a quart of brandy for nine days, and clear it off; it is a good cordial. Eliza Smith
JL Note: This is gooooooood! We’ve had some sitting around with the seeds still in the bottle for several months and it is still wonderful – just remember to strain them out before drinking. Can be drunk neat but is a bit potent, so perhaps best with a mixer!
