Button hooks. Victorians did not have zips and elastic to keep their clothes on like we do. Most bits of clothing - even their shoes - had buttons and it could take a long time to get dressed. These little hooks were used to help people get the fiddly small buttons done up by pulling them through their holes.

    Test it on the servants of course! That's what happened in 1860 at The Judge's Lodging, when gas lighting was put into the basement and not the Judge's rooms. They wanted to see if they got sick from the fumes. The servants were fine - that's why we got the lights working again.
